Dr Pascal Vrticka (University of Essex) is a social neuroscientist with strong ties to developmental & social psychology. His research focuses on the psychological, behavioural, biological, and brain basis of human social interaction, attachment, and caregivingPascal’s seminar will briefly outline attachment theory and its importance for understanding human social behaviour. He will then talk about some of the most common misconceptions and open questions around attachment theory’s core assumptions. Finally, he will show how a social neuroscience perspective – using objective biological and brain data – can help extend and clarify attachment theory within the 21st century.
