What is Attachment

John Bowlby was the originator of Attachment Theory way back in the 1950’s. He described attachment as a “lasting psychological connectedness between human beings’ .It is a theory that has continued to evolve.  Here you will find resources that explain what Attachment Theory is;  its importance in both understanding child and human development and relationships; and also its importance in action for parents, caregivers and practitioners.

Why Attachment Matters

Here you will find resources relating to: Young Adulthood to Across The Lifespan, Education, Parenting and Caregiving; Power, Inequality, Diversity and Inclusion; Public Health and Social Policy.  We will be adding resources for Children and Young People.
