Why attachment matters for Black and Minority Ethnic Families – IN PERSON

April 22, 2023, 10:00 am

Black, Asian and minority ethnic families and communities are too often on the edge of services that could offer support. When services are accessed there can be a lack of understanding of societal power and inequality leading to their voices not being heard and continued ‘othering’.

Funded by The Robertson Trust , Scottish Attachment in Action (SAIA) is co-creating with parents and community groups a series of workshops. Co-creating just means that each workshop may differ depending on the needs and wants of the participants in each group.

Workshops will explore:-

  • To explore Why Attachment Matters and what would be supportive in your own lives, your families’ lives and in your communities
  • What is attachment?
  • What do attachment relationships mean to you?
  • How are these relationships affected by societal power and inequality?
  • How can services be influenced?

These in person workshops will be held on Saturday 22nd April and Saturday 13th May 2023 from 10am – 3.30pm.

Refreshments, lunch, child care costs, travel expenses and interpreters, if required, will be provided.
