Are you an adoptive parent within Inverclyde, Renfrewshire or Glasgow? Do you provide support to adoptive families within these areas? If so, come along and hear more about our Adoption Allies service. This is a free service, funded by the Promise Partnership, Corra Foundation which provides specialist support for adoptive families and education professionals.
Reducing crisis and creating better relationships between the child and school staff will deepen understanding of the experiences of adopted children, support inclusion and influence how schools recognise and work with adoptive families.
The event will be facilitated by our adoption advocates. We will also hear from Simon Benn from Thriving Adoptees.
Simon Benn was adopted at 5 weeks old and told so young he doesn’t ever remember not knowing. He didn’t experience any conscious adoption trauma until 40 when he found out his childhood teddy bear was a gift from his birth mother. This caused an eruption of anger, feeling rejected and unloved. That kickstarted a healing journey exploring trauma, his roots and who he is.
We look forward to seeing you and letting you know how we can support you. If you need to get in touch beforehand, please contact Joanne at joanne.hearl@scottishattachmentinaction.org or Claire at claire.slocombe@scottishattachmentinaction.org.
