Scottish Attachment in Action AGM 2023

Scottish Attachment In Actions (SAIA) AGM took place on Monday the 27th November 2023 in The Arc, University of Glasgow.

Alison MacDonald, SAIA’s chairperson gave some reflections on the year, including the huge amount of changes which had taken place in the previous months. She talked about the perseverance and dedication of Maggie McManus, SAIA’s Development Manager in moving SAIA to the stage it is now at.

The annual report was presented including some of the highlights of the year such as the Wee BREATHERS project, the adoptive advocates project, PACE training, the adoptive parents forum, the Village, the BME and policy work.

Alison said she was delighted we now had a larger staff team who are developing and delivering our key projects including Wendy, our Director, Pauline our Communications and Engagement Lead and our two Attachment Practice Leads Claire and newly appointed staff member Laura.

An overview of the accounts was provided by Moira Greentree who provided a statement of balances, and it was highlighted that SAIA is now a healthy position financially.

A special thank you was given to both Edwina Grant and Judy Furnivall who are stepping down from their role as trustees. Both Edwina and Judy will still remain involved, but no longer as trustees. A note of thanks was expressed by all for the vision, passion and dedication they both provided over the years to create SAIA into the value- based charity it has become.  They will be very much missed but both expressed the view that the charity is now in a more stable position whereby they can step back to spend time with family.

Our trustees and in particular, our chairperson – Alison MacDonald, vice-chairperson – Christine McKee and treasurer Moira Greentree were all thanked for their hard work over the year.
